The Burnham On Sea Motor Club Ltd. were very pleased on November 25th, to be able to present the specialist motorsport rescue team, at Westcountry Rescue with a Vehicle encapsulating Fire Blanket for them to add to their vehicle incident handling equipment. The blanket is suitable for all types of car fires including EV’s.
West Country Rescue are a South West based Motorsport unit, who are crewed totally by volunteers and as a charity run organisation they are funded solely by donations. The unit provide medical aid, are also qualified in incident handling and casualty extraction techniques.
The Burnham On Sea Motor Club, who promote along with neighbouring clubs motorsport events throughout the year and are forever grateful for the time, expertise and dedication that West Country Rescue give to events.
The Fire Blanket was funded by the clubs share of proceeds from the recent Wiscombe Manor Hillclimb held at Wiscombe Park Nr Honiton in Devon, in conjunction with the Taunton Motoring Club, Torbay Motor Club and the Woolbridge Motor Club. Each of the four Clubs donating their share of the proceeds to their own clubs chosen charities.
On behalf of West Country Rescue Mr. John Sluman, thanked the Burnham On Sea Motor Club and the event organisers for the generous gift and said how sad it is to see a competitor recently loose a car due to fire, and that he hopes that having the blanket will allow them to hopefully save any cars that are subjected to fire, even if only to allow the owner to have something salvageable afterwards, as this is sometimes not the case.
On Behalf of the Burnham On Sea Motor Club Ltd, Dave Pearce said how pleased he was to be able to make this donation, having seen the devastation motor sport vehicle fires can cause, and the financial loss that owners can incur.
